For more than 20
years, Elliott Gerber/Visual Resource has created designs for
everything from window displays and store interiors to shopping
bags. In 1998, he was selected to be the display consultant for the
new “Softer Side of Sears” prototype. In addition, Mr. Gerber
writes and lectures about display techniques and has taught visual
merchandising at the college level.
Previous to
establishing Visual Resource in 1983, Elliott was the Creative
Director for Visual Merchandising at Gimbels, a department store
with 20 locations. His responsibilities included the design,
manufacturing and distribution of all display materials.
In the 80’s, Mr.
Gerber originated the concept, designed and sculpted the core
products for Carol Barnhart’s line of cast Styrofoam mannequins.
These revolutionary pinable forms became a standard for knitwear
presentation. They continue to be manufactured and sold worldwide.
Bamberger’s, a
former division of RH Macy’s employed Elliott from 1974 to 1980
where he created and purchased all seasonal and promotional display
materials used by the 20 store chain.
Born and educated in Harrisburg, Pa., Mr. Gerber received his
Masters degree from SUNY Binghamton in set and costume design. His
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree was awarded in 1970 from Temple
University, Tyler School of Art with majors in design and
sculpture. His junior year of study was at the Tyler campus in
Rome, Italy. |
